Թϱ Builds "Green" at Valley College

The (Թϱ) Board of Trustees has adopted a district-wide Sustainable Building Plan to incorporate energy-saving and environmentally friendly features into the new structures. Buildings with more than 7,500 square feet are required to incorporate "green" standards advocated by the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED™) certification program.
Թϱ's trustees worked with local community members and environmental groups, such as the and , so the plan would be both environmentally protective and fiscally responsible. Construction costs will increase but should be offset by rebates, incentives, and long-term savings through conservation of energy and water.
At Valley College, the following buildings have been built according to LEED™ certification standards:
- Administration & Career Advancement building - LEED Gold
- Allied Health & Sciences Center - LEED Silver
- Child Development & Family Complex - LEED Certified
